Vojta Ciml at WebExpo: Will Humans Be Replaced by Machines?
If there’s anything positive to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic for the event industry, it’s technological progress and creative solutions. SlidesLive co-founder Vojta Ciml shared the company’s journey since the first COVID lockdown in 2020 at WebExpo, a conference that covers topics interesting developers, designers, product managers and marketers. Although business seemed gloomy without in-person events at the time, machines had our backs and still do.
Focusing on the greater question of whether humans will be replaced by machines, Vojta spoke about automation-related solutions to pandemic problems. When the first lockdown was announced, clients all over had to cancel their planned conferences and events. However, instead of canceling them, Vojta suggested moving them online.
Still, clients were dissatisfied with the idea of a boring virtual meeting. That’s where the SlidesLive team had to get creative. As a solution, the team offered a 3D studio with 3D graphics. SlidesLive’s Prague office was transformed into a 3D studio and the product was launched shortly after.
With the goal to record all future conferences and events and store them in a knowledge archive, a pandemic cannot stand in the way. There is still knowledge to be shared, and our clients knew that. Together, we created a way to satisfy both parties while maintaining our company values.
But when it comes to pre-recorded talks, figuring out a way to maintain a professional look throughout the conference can be difficult, especially when every speaker’s web camera and microphone varies. New features, like color and speech enhancement, were created as a result. Speakers no longer had to worry too much about their pre-recordings and instead could focus on delivering their talks.
The pandemic launched the SlidesLive team into a new era of progress. We couldn’t be more excited about our new online library and eternal storage, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Humans will not be replaced by machines, but machines will always be there to enhance our capabilities and cover our mistakes.
